After the Montreal Massacre on December 6, 1989, the Canadian government made a commitment to deal with public policy, education, legislation and applied research on violence against women and children. One of the initiatives was the development of 5 sister centres across Canada (New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba and British Columbia) that would be centres of excellence on research and education on violence against women and more broadly gender-based violence. The Alliance represents the partnership among these centres and collaborative research & education initiatives. For more information about each centre, link onto their logos below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Apr\u00e8s le massacre de Montr\u00e9al le 6 d\u00e9cembre 1989, le gouvernement canadien s’est engag\u00e9 \u00e0 s’occuper de la politique publique, de l’\u00e9ducation, de la l\u00e9gislation et de la recherche appliqu\u00e9e sur la violence \u00e0 l’\u00e9gard des femmes et des enfants. L’une des initiatives a \u00e9t\u00e9 le d\u00e9veloppement de 5 centres fr\u00e8res \u00e0 travers le Canada (Nouveau-Brunswick, Qu\u00e9bec, Ontario, Manitoba et Colombie-Britannique) qui seraient des centres d’excellence en mati\u00e8re de recherche et d’\u00e9ducation sur la violence \u00e0 l’\u00e9gard des femmes et plus largement sur la violence sexiste.
